The Missions Ministry at UCC exists to help implement the command of Jesus in Matthew 28:18-20 to... "go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you." As Jesus also said to His disciples in Matthew 9:36-38..."The harvest is plentiful and the workers are few.
Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into His harvest field.

With these Scriptures as our mandate, the Missions Ministry pursues opportunities each year to spread the gospel at home and abroad, to support educational endeavors and benevolent activities, and to meet special needs of our supported missions and others too. About 60 percent of our 2009 budget is earmarked for overseas work -- the balance is in support of local, state and national work.

You can find photos and other information for supported missions on the bulletin board along the hallway in the Main (100) Building. Plans are underway for a similar bulletin board installation in the FLC.

Worldwide Missions

The Missions Ministry receives each year a fixed percentage of the general budget to fund the various missions supported. In the 2009 calendar year the percentage received is 17 percent. In 2008 mission-activity and designated funds supported projects such as scholarships for the "Perspectives on the World Christian Movement" class, books and travel expenses for international missionaries, and special projects at King Solomon Christian Service Camp. UCC missions funds also helped underwrite a planned symposium of the European Evangelistic Society in Tubingen, Germany. Additional funds also were given, as needed, to missionaries in sensitive areas.

We encourage prayer for missions with a monthly prayer guide for the HIS ministry and with updates passed on from supported missionaries. In November, UCC also observes the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church.

In April 10, 2010 UCC will hold its annual garage sale in support of the Mexico mission trip.
