“Operation: HOME – Helping Our Military Endure” seminar
10 a.m.-noon August 23, sanctuary
The UCC Heroes at Home ministry will host a seminar presented by Dr. Briana S. Nelson Goff, Associate Professor and Military Family Programs Coordinator in the School of Family Studies and Human Services at Kansas State University. This seminar will help church staff, leaders, and all other individuals interested in supporting and helping local military families to achieve a better understanding of post traumatic stress/combat stress reaction and learn how to identify it. The seminar will also identify resources available within our community for the families dealing with this issue as they work to maintain or regain healthy families to better serve our God. If there are any other particular areas of concern you would like to see Dr. Goff address, please let us know so she can prepare. We request you RSVP to the church office or e-mail Shirley Morrill by August 20 to ensure we have adequate space and handouts for all who attend. However, an RSVP is not required to attend.

Mission Accomplished!
Thank you to all who participated in the “Project America Cares” school
supplies drive! UCC shipped more than 150 pounds of school supplies to
Iraq this week. Deployed Christian soldiers will distribute these
notebooks, pens and pencils, crayons, and more to needy Iraqi school
children. For many of the children, this year is their first
opportunity to attend school. Chuck Bramhall, along with his wife
Dorothy, is the shepherding elder over the military community within
UCC’s church body. Jackie Barnette is a UCC office volunteer and
military spouse. (Pictured: Chuck Bramhall and Jackie Barnette prepare
school supplies for shipping.)
If you are military and would like to become involved in
military-related activities at UCC, or if you would like to be involved
in serving the military within UCC, please contact Chuck.
